I've been using NewsLyfe for a few days, mainly because I'm interested in a few regions. I started checking it more because of the air raid and drone alerts, but I still don't really understand how everything works. I can see the alerts on the map, but I don't always know exactly which county or region they belong to. I haven't set up the watched zones yet either. How do you use it when you only want to follow a few regions? Do you set up the alerts and watched zones, or do you just check the map regularly?

Great question — here's the simplest way to set it up for just 1-2 regions:
Long-press the region (or district) you care about on the map. This adds it to your "watched" list — you'll see it highlighted in green when it's calm, and it'll switch to red/orange/yellow automatically when there's an actual alert there.
Switch to "User" alert mode (vs. "Main" alert mode, which shows every alert everywhere). In User mode, the map — and your notifications — only care about the areas you've watched, so you don't get flooded with alerts from regions you don't care about.
You can watch either a whole region OR a specific district within it — whichever is more useful for you. Note: watching a district automatically un-watches its parent region (and vice versa), so you're never double-tracking the same spot.
There's also a voice alert toggle in the alert settings — turn it on and incoming alerts get read aloud, so you don't have to keep checking the screen. And notifications themselves can be turned off entirely if you'd rather just check the map manually.
The color tells you the urgency, not just "alert vs. no alert": red means no weapon type has been identified yet. Orange covers missiles, airstrikes (including guided bombs), artillery, and — this one surprises people — jet-powered drones like the Shahed-238/Geran-3, since those are fast enough to matter. Yellow covers everything else that's been identified but isn't fast: regular propeller drones, naval, sabotage, cyber, and a few other categories. Green just means "watched, currently calm."
So to directly answer your question: yes, set up watched zones for your 1-2 regions and switch to User mode — that's the efficient way. Just checking the map on Main mode works too, but you'll be scrolling past a lot of unrelated alerts to find what matters to you.

O să fie și Moldova inclusă la alerte? În ultima vreme tot ajung drone pe aici și mă întreb dacă o să primim și noi alerte în NewsLyfe.
Thanks for asking. Moldova is on our list and we've started collecting public sources for it, but it isn't live in the alerts yet, so I can't give you a date. I'd rather not promise anything until it's actually running.

Hi! I'm from Estonia, and I wanted to ask if Estonian alerts are expected to be available in the near future?
Thanks, good question. Estonia isn't covered at the moment and we don't have a source set up for it yet, so I can't say when, or if, it'll be added. For now the alerts cover Russia, Ukraine, Israel and Saudi Arabia.
