Media Guide
Embedding Video in Your Article.
01
Supported Platforms
Newslyfe Press supports video embedding from two platforms: YouTube and Vimeo. You do not need to copy any embed code — just paste the regular video URL and the editor handles the rest.
- YouTube — all standard URL formats supported: watch links, short youtu.be links, Shorts, and live streams
- Vimeo — standard video page links and player.vimeo.com URLs
Other video platforms are not supported at this time. Use a YouTube or Vimeo upload if your video is hosted elsewhere.
02
How to Get the Link
Copy the video URL directly from your browser address bar or from the Share button on YouTube or Vimeo.
Supported YouTube formats
Any of these will work
youtube.com/watch?v=… · youtu.be/… · youtube.com/shorts/… · youtube.com/live/…
Open the Video panel in the mobile newsroom, tap a slot, and paste the URL into the input field. A preview loads automatically when the URL is recognised.
03
Cover Video
The cover video replaces the cover image at the top of your article. When readers open the article, the video is embedded and plays inline.
Tap the cover area in the Video panel and paste a YouTube or Vimeo URL. The video thumbnail is displayed as a preview in the panel.
Cover image vs cover video
You can set both
If you set both a cover image and a cover video, the video takes priority in the article view. The image is used for social sharing previews and feed thumbnails where video cannot play.
04
Inline Videos
You can embed up to 3 videos directly inside your article body. Each video appears as a full-width 16:9 player between paragraphs.
Open the Video panel, scroll to the Videos section, and tap any empty slot. Paste the URL and tap Insert.
- Up to 3 inline videos per article
- Videos are inserted at the current cursor position in the editor
- You can remove any inline video from the Video panel at any time
05
Preview Thumbnail
After you add a YouTube video, the panel shows the video thumbnail automatically — no extra step needed. Vimeo videos show a play icon placeholder instead.
The thumbnail is display-only inside the editor. In the published article, the full video player loads and readers can play the video without leaving the page.
