How do you verify a claim spreading on Telegram?

Skeptical Fact-Checker 415(edited)Verification
I keep coming across claims or videos being shared on Telegram, and it's not always clear how reliable the source is. Sometimes the channel is the first place where something appears. Other times they're just reposting something they found elsewhere. And with photos or videos, I often find it hard to tell if they really show what the post says they show. How do you usually go about checking something like this? What do you look at first, and when would you say there's enough evidence to consider it reliable enough to pass on?

I usually check first whether the same claim has appeared anywhere else. If I find an earlier source, it often tells you whether the Telegram channel is actually breaking the story or just reposting it. For photos and videos, I try to track down the original. If I can't figure out where it came from, I'd rather treat it as unverified than guess.
