Finland Passes Landmark Electoral Reform That Abolishes Multi-Member Districts After a Century of Political Deadlock

The Finnish parliament has voted 127 to 72 to replace its century-old multi-member constituency system with a mixed-member proportional model, a change that electoral analysts say will fundamentally alter party strategy, reduce the dominance of regional political dynasties, and give smaller parties their first structurally fair shot at parliamentary representation.
